Green Home Guide

Advanced Framing Techniques

Watershed donated these guidelines so that the lessons learned during Habitat for Humanity's GreenBuild 2009 will not only benefit future Habitat projects, but also create a ripple effect throughout our community. Each strategy and construction technique recommended here has been evaluated based on the following criteria: affordability, practicality, and applicability to future Habitat for Humanity homes. The overarching goal is to create a durable, low maintenance, energy efficient, and healthy home.

Future Habitat projects should consider this a starting point, from which they can strike out and forge their own path to a greener home.
