A cozy living room corner with two beige armchairs with wooden armrests and a small side table holding a green plant. There are two windows with beige shades, framed artwork on a blue wall, a tall floor lamp, and a wooden hat hanging on the wall. Treetop Lounge

One of the mantras of sustainable design is “long life, loose fit.” Highly specialized spaces for specific functions can become obsolete over time, making it more difficult and resource intensive for the building to be used for 50 or 100 years.

The Treetop Lounge is a flexible space on the upper floor that can be used as a quiet “away” space for media consumption or focused work, separate from the bedrooms, with views into the canopy of an adjacent live oak. The wallpaper on the ceiling with a pattern of leaves and branches mimics the view into the treetops outside.

Locking pocket doors between the adjacent bedroom and bath allow for the Lounge to share the bath if needed, while maintaining the privacy of each space.
