Gulf Coast Eco Center Earns Honor Award from AIA Birmingham

The Gulf Coast Eco Center received the Honor Award in the Small Projects category at AIA Birmingham’s recent Design Awards ceremony.

Deciding unanimously, the jury called the project “an outstanding example of practicing what you preach that inspires us to build durably by treading lightly and quietly. The passive design harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding ecosystem.”

Designed in collaboration with ArchitectureWorks, the Center's design is informed by the science of biophilia and is intended to create memorable experiences in nature for students, tourists, and community members.
